Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel (Yom Hashoah). I am thinking of the survivors who are in their homes this year in quarantine. Normally, Israel has a national ceremony at Yad Vashem as a way of recognizing all those who were lost and those few who remain. This year it will all have to be virtual. The national siren will go off throughout the country and everyone stands still in a moment of silence. I pray that every survivor in their homes feels loved and known when they hear that siren and that somehow it will pierce through the loneliness.
I did this interview with Jim Scudder Jr. on InGrace about antisemitism past and present. I waited until today to share it.
