Whether or not you support the candidacy of Newt Gingrich, one must applaud him for having the courage to say it like it is regarding the so called, “Palestinians”, when he said “we have invented the Palestinian people, who are in fact Arabs and are historically part of the Arab people.”
The so-called “Palestinians” are apoplectic. And if the political leaders in the U.S. and Israel are not ashamed, they should be. Ignorance of the true historical, legal, as well as the Biblical facts regarding Israel’s claim to the land is no excuse. Sadly, it may be the sorry reason for American commitment to a “Palestinian people” and a “two-state solution.” For Israeli leaders however, they know full well the aforementioned facts yet have supported the same failed fallacy resulting in their present predicament. For this they are doubly culpable. Alas, appeasement has failed again.
Clearly, a new Middle East peace plan is needed. However, for any reasonable hope of success it must be a peace plan based on the containment of Jihadist terrorist factions not their pacification or appeasement. Since Israel became a sovereign state in 1948 there have been several peace plans offered by various governments and groups, all of which have called for Israel to give up land for peace. Every one of these plans have failed to produce peace, including the one proposed by the Bush Administration, The Road Map to Peace, which is the embodiment of the policy of appeasement.
At this point all indications are that the Obama and Netanyahu administrations, intend to continue to pursue the historical failure of the “two state solution,” founded on appeasement. Furthermore, those hell-bent on continuing “Land for Peace” policies have not only refused to see these previous peace plans as fraudulent failures, they have shown a glaring lack of awareness of the true history of the region.
There is a selective amnesia regarding the legally binding provisions of the Balfour Declaration and the San Remo resolutions mandated to the British. While the UN was suggesting the creation of a Palestinian State in 1947, according to a Partition Plan, it was totally rejected by the Arab populace of that era. There have been seven wars and two intifadas launched against Israel since 1948. Eyes are closed to the reprehensible treatment of Palestinian refugees by UNWRA whose sole mission and purpose is to perpetuate the refugee status rather than rehabilitate and absorb those entrusted to their care. In addition, the revisionist history conceived and promoted by the Yasser Arafat propaganda machine since 1967 has been elevated to the place of perceived dogma. It has become the bible, the scandalous guiding light for all the previous so-called peace plans.
If there is to be any hope for a peace plan that works, there are three components, until now absent from past peace plans, which must be reflected in any successful peace plan of the future.
1. The stated goal of all the charter/founding documents of all the Palestinian groups who aspire to leadership, including the Palestinian Authority lead by Mahmoud Abbas, has been, and continues to be, the destruction of the totality of the modern State of Israel. Once this happens the goal is to replace Israel with a Palestinian state. Therefore the goal of the Palestinian leadership is not, and never has been, peace. In short, up to this point, Israel has had no real or viable peace partner. To deny or refuse to deal with this historical fact is a dishonest and dysfunctional denial of reality and will most certainly guarantee continued failure.
2. Recognizing the millennia of inherited hostility between the descendents of Jacob and Ishmael, any peace plan must focus on the containment of that hostility rather than another futile attempt to assuage it. Given the pathological hatred for Jews embedded in the radical Islamist psyche, pacification will not work. Any U.S. Administration advocating Jews and Arabs living side by side in peace is being guided by naïveté alone. Islam rejects the right of Jews to live. Any U.S. Administration that advocates Western values or an American form of government to or upon Islamic nations is being dangerously unrealistic. Islamists are closed to Western democracy, a capitalist economic system, and certainly freedom of religion and freedom of speech.
3. Moreover, there has been a total refusal to give any consideration to the God-given decrees reflected in His covenant promises made to Abraham and his descendents, which includes the land and its boundaries. This remains Israel’s trump card in any negotiations. Attempts to exclude providential renderings from the negotiation table will not stand. Any effort that does not have these understandings as pre-suppositional to its peace plan is likewise programmed for failure. It constitutes an act of defiance against Almighty God and will not succeed.
Christian Zionists the world over are seeking to join forces with Jewish Zionists in promoting political leaders who share the aforementioned convictions, and removing those who don’t.
