By MICHAEL SELUTIN, ISRAEL TODAY—
On Monday morning Knesset members opened their mailboxes and they appaled to find a New Testament inside. It was a leather-bound volume of the “Book of Testaments,” which combines the Old Testament and the New Testament in one. It was printed by the Bible Society-Israel.
Some members were shocked and wrote a letter of complaint to Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin, writing that “it cannot be the case that missionary materials are allowed to be distributed in the Knesset.” They continue in their letter: “Texts that were used to persecute and harass cannot be distributed through the front door of the State of Israel.”
A letter from the Head of the Bible Society (Israel), Victor Kalisher, was enclosed in which he expressed his pride of his new publication of this Bible with 90.000 cross-references in Hebrew for the first time, showing how prophecies of the Old Testament where fulfilled in the New Testament. “We are not missionaries, we are an organization that does research on holy books,” Kalisher said.
God bless you, Victor. Stand strong for Ha Shem is the wind beneath your sails! Love in Him, David
Would these members have been as upset if it were a koran they had received? I think that even if they were, they would have kept quiet in order not to ‘offend’ the muslims around them. Some people seem to have a very selective memory about who is friend or foe and which century they live in.
Fair point.
There will be no excuses when standing before Him with Whom we have to do.
Some will be offended, some wont mind and others might read out of curiosity. The Word is mighty and powerful and will fall in the right ears.
