Think on this: “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel…declares Yahweh. ‘I will put my law in their minds, and I will write it on their hearts.”… “There are neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Messiah Jesus. If you belong to the Messiah, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.” (Jeremiah 31:33; Galatians 3:28-29)
Pray on this: Father, we praise you that you have done for us what we could never have done for ourselves — you have taken the gracious initiative to put your laws in our minds and written them on our hearts. Receive our gratitude and thanksgiving that, “No matter how many promises God has made they are all ‘yes’ in Messiah.” (II Corinthians 1:20)
Hi Jim,
This is very confusing to me. Jews hold that non-Jews have a very important place in the days of the Messiah and anyone who is accepting as you call the “kingdom of G-d” would be as we call a “ger toshav.” We hold a very big distinction between a Jew who is commanded on all 613 Mitzvoth and is judged by them (including Kosher laws and Sabbath observance etc.) whereas a Ger-Toshav is only required by the 7 commandments of Bnei Noah. I would guess that you are not ready to keep Sabbath, since that is an eternal covenant between G-d and Bnei Yisrael only, we hold that a Gentile who keeps Sabbath is punished by death, there is clearly a distinction in LAW between Jews and Gentiles and I don’t think that will change in the days of Messiah. I think Christians should encourage Jews to keep all the Torah but themselves can get the full reward simply by believing in G-d and promoting the needs if the Torah Scholars. That includes providing for their physical needs (Gmara Pesachim), which give you very long life in those pending days.
I would be happy to discuss this more with you, even at length if you like.
Thanks for taking a strong stand on a sensitive subject. The source of the problem will only be eliminated in the days of Messiah, as prophesied in Isaiah 11:13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. One people for one God.
Well, Rabbi Baruch, I along with millions of other Christians keep the sabbath because it is one of the ten commandments of Yahweh. We have not been punished by death. The great debate for the Jews today is the MESSIAH. Once you accept that Yeshua is the messiah and invite him into your heart as many other Jews and Gentiles have done, then will you be able to see why we keep the sabbath. You will see why we honor the Jews and why we support Israel.
Blessings
Shalom Jim,
Thanks for your post on this very exciting and sometimes controversial subject, within the Messianic , Orthodox and Christian Zionist circles. I have an few questions that maybe you or others could attempt to answer for me, bear with me..
When the Nation of Israel was divided into the House of Israel and the House of Judah and eventually the 10 Northern Tribes were scattered by Assyria , The covenant and obedience of the commandments(all 613) still applies to these descendants , correct? Even if they are not currently aware of their Abrahamic DNA? And even if they are currently believers in the Messiah Ben Joseph, Yeshua, He did not come to abolish any laws but fulfill what all had been awaiting? When Ezekiel 37:15-28 comes to fulfillment I guess we will get more clarity on these very difficult questions. Thank you very much for your work . Shalom and Blessings!
