Think on this: Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2: 38-39)
Pray on this: Our Father, we use this special time of year to celebrate your covenant, Law and Spirit. And this week on Shavuot/Pentecost, we make a public commitment to you, just as the people of Israel did at Mt. Sinai, that “we will do and we will listen.”
A beautiful presentation of the biblical feast!
Shavuot/Pentecost should be celebrated by all bible believers.
Please check therefinersfire.org and you will find the detailed answers/ bible verses, why God said that we must keep HIS FEASTS. Shalom and blessings, Rita
Wonderful teaching Sister Shelley! I will use your information in our worship this week. We appreciate your helps and resources with biblical understanding.
Yes, Ma’am, “Maven” SHELLEY…
As CHAPLAIN Grace wrote (BELOW), another well-worded treatise on the approaching, shared ‘Festival of WEEKS’. What a rich resource the JERUSALEM CONNECTION continues to be, there in the otherwise ‘NON-Bible’ BELTWAY! [From fine staffers (like MARILYN & MARILYN), we in ‘fly-over’ land = blest BENEFICIARIES of such unwavering caution & care…]
And if you’ve not noticed, Ms. NEESE, coinciding with your Essay this week is Richard Stengel’s cover story on the current Prime Minister – “KING BIBI” [ בִּיבִּי ] – in Time magazine. With few exceptions, his timely piece features a fair take on the angst of ISRAEL’s leader.
Stengel wonders if our G-d might’ve picked a more compliant ‘accomplice’ than this tiny nation in bringing His LIGHT (‘Ner tamid’) to the rest of our darkened Gentile undestanding. [Bibi himself observes, “JEWS ARE NOT SO MUCH GOD’s CHOSEN PEOPLE AS THEY ARE HIS ARGUMENTATIVE ONES!” Or as Tevye put it, “chosen – under protest!”]
Perhaps Stengel’s insightful journalism could occur more often.
He’s got the built-in web site:
Thanks for this great info!
Oops, forgot –
[P.S.: That ‘would-be’ web site for Stengel’s future comments? ” Bibi@NETANYAHU.com ” ]
That was a wonderful and succinct presentation of the fullness of Shavuot! Thank you for the obvious time, effort and study that went into your teaching. Shavuot and Pentecost were beautifully woven together and compared at the end. Thank you for your faithfulness.
under His hand,
Antonia Hurshman
Thanks for the encouragement Antonia!
Thank you for sharing this info… it’s parallels like this that excite me even more when reading the scriptures. Learing Hebrew is also been a blessing for me as it brings me deeper into God’s word with clearer meaning.
Really enjoyed your presentation, you put so much of yourself into it. Great job!!
To answer the question….yes, we should celebrate Shavuot as well as all of the Feast of God.
The First Believers did and all did until Rome outlawed it.
The Apostles of Jesus came to the conclusion that the Gentiles should not do as the Jews do:
“It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.
Act 15:19-20.
I don’t believe that the Body of Christ need PRACTICE the Jewish Feasts, but understand what they represented in the Old Testament, and their FULFILLMENT in the New Testament.
Well done, Shelley. I had not previously noticed the parallel between 3000 killed and 3000 saved. Excellent!
Thank-you, Shelly, for such a clear explanation of the full meaning of Shavuot. Be Blessed.
