When it is applied to our colleges and universities.
All us–Jews, Christians and others–must apply critical thinking to the curriculums and lectures and speeches that professors, administrators and campus activists are espousing. The amount of poison leaching into our academic arenas is overwhelming. Schools were once the safe haven for questioning, seeking truth, finding justice and examining data but are now slowly being eroded by a dangerous groupthink being led by a progressive movement that is overtaking our schools, universities, entertainment, news media, and more.
Drip Drip Drip…the enemy is in no hurry to fill our cups with hate and the seed of its own purpose, the oldest form of hate and discrimination on the face of the earth: Jew Hate—more recently called antisemitism. But with any term, it is a targeting of the Jewish people, a minority of any population in any given time, but the constant target of sinister plots to disrupt the plan of God. The Jewish people, and the nation of Israel, are part of God’s plan yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Here are two examples among many of happenings on what were once prestigious houses of academic advancement:
At The University of California, Berkely Hatem Bazian, an Islamic law and theology scholar who teaches in the university’s Departments of Near Eastern and Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies, had retweeted a gruesome cartoon depicting an Israeli soldier holding up the heart of a Palestinian man. The latest of many such uncensored, antisemitic posts. (Source: “Antisemitism Masked as Anti-Israel Bias at Berkeley, America’s ‘Most Prestigious College’ ” by Rachel O’Donoghue HonestReporting)
San Francisco State and Rutgers Universities held 9/11 events featuring antisemites and terrorist sympathizers. (Source: “September 11 Event to Feature Speakers Affiliated with Terrorists [incl. Hatem Bazian, Rabab Abdulhadi” by Michael Starr The Jerusalem Post September 10, 2021)
What can we say to our young people to encourage them and help them? We can start with a few short words from the Word:
Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Proverbs 14:15 The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.
Proverbs 18:17 The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 But test everything; hold fast what is good.
2 Timothy 2:7 Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.
Campus Watch (a division of Middle East Forum) has a full list of professors to avoid—some universities have several professors—professors from various disciplines in schools of government, middle eastern studies, Political Science, gender studies and more. Review the full list in this link and share it if you have any contacts who attend these schools:
Professors to Avoid :: Campus Watch (meforum.org)
Of you know anyone who goes to any of these schools, please send them the full list of professors whose classes they should avoid:
San Francisco State | UCLA | Tufts | Barnard University |
Cal State Stanislaus | Columbia | Cal State Riverside | Cal State Berkley |
Stanford | Georgetown | University of Michigan | Rice |
Duke | Brown | Rutgers | Luther College |
Stockton University | University of Delaware | UC Irvine | NYU |
Univ. of Pennsylvania | Huron College | Lincoln University | Northeastern Univ. |
Many other universities are having problems including University of Toronto, Yale, Harvard, Brandeis, the list is quite extensive—and includes Christian colleges as well as public, Ivy Leagues and prestigious private schools. Compiling a list of schools NOT engaged in woke-ism that also includes antizionism and antisemitism is likely a shorter list.
One way we can work to combat these sentiments on campuses is not simply to avoid these schools (but we can avoid the professors). We can also be ambassadors for truth on these campuses. While many of us are not on the position to go back to school, we can help those university-aged students be equipped to share knowledge and truth. We can do this through our Hebrew University Scholarship Fund. Currently we are accepting donation to build this fund. Our first recipient will be announced this fall. Our goal to is raise funds to send as many North American University Christian students as possible to study and live in Israel among ALL its people for a full university semester—during which time they can take classes that go directly towards the degree program they are pursuing at their home university. What better way to bring firsthand knowledge of Israel to these campuses? What better way to have university students mature into adults who are active in society, no matter their vocation, to advocate for truth—truth about Israel and the Jewish people?
Proverbs 22:6: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
While we may think this is for the little ones in our lives, those 18–24-year-olds can certainly use continued training—assistance and mentorship–to be mature, wise adults moving in the Will or the Lord.
Shavua tov, have a great week.
