Charles Krauthammer, Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist, political commentator, and physician appeared on Special Report with Bret Braier and spoke about the State Department’s response to the protests in Cairo.
Krauthammer said, “It looks as though the administration thinks about what has just happened.”
He agreed that Romney had the right to criticize Obama’s apology but is stump as to why Hillary Clinton went right back out and apologized again.
“Why is she engaging in a discourse on free speech with the mob?”
“This is a nation that puts a crucifix in a jar of urine and it ends up in a museum,” Krauthammer said. “We allow all kinds of expression. Why should we make an exception in the case of Islam? This is absurd.”
Krauthammer said, “We should say to other State Department equivalents, you speak with your mob, you talk to them about this, and you defend our embassies.”
“I find this is a return to the sentiment of the embassy statement two days ago, I think they are totally in meltdown at the State Department.”
A few days ago on Special Report, Krauthammer also said, “I think the substance of what Romney said at that time was absolutely right. The problem is that he needs to make a larger argument. There is a collapse of Obama’s policy. It began with the Cairo speech. It began with the apologies to Iran. It began with regret for the Iraq war. It began with the so-called outreach, and it completely collapsed. It has gotten nowhere on Iran. These are the fruits of appeasement and apology. He should make a general speech, not attack here and there, but a speech explaining and connecting all the dots. That’s what a candidate ought to do and to leave attacks to surrogates and to Ryan.”
