THE EMET REPORT —
Both Iran and Syria, worried about spreading unrest in the Middle East, seek to divert attention by escalating tension along Israel’s borders. Hamas fired two missiles into two Israeli towns. This is an important sign that the next Middle East war may be closer than you think.
Chinese rockets, apparently supplied by Iran, hit Israel in first such attack since Hamas war.
The sources said the military expected additional rocket strikes from the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

They said military intelligence has assessed that Iran and Syria were believed working with their proxies to escalate tension along Israel’s borders to divert from the Arab revolt in the Middle East
.
Hamas is said to have deployed Iranian rockets with a range of up to 80 kilometers. This includes the Fajr-5, capable of striking Tel Aviv from the Gaza Strip.

Below are some other important signs that a major war with Israel is building. There are two possible reasons that Israel may use nuclear weapons in this war.
A. If the existence of Israel is threatened. The existence of Israel may be threatened because of the coordination of attacks, and the number and size of missiles facing Israel from Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas.
B. A chemical weapon attack (non-conventional NBC attack) is launched against Israel. Syria has chemical weapons. Hezbollah may have chemical weapons.
Here are the signs:
1. The signs for the return of the Mahdi are almost complete.
An official website run by the Iranian government keeps close track of all these events and expresses the Iranian leaders’ excitement about them with the promise that the reappearance of Mahdi is close.
They conclude that all the signs are in place and the reappearance is awaiting just one condition: worldwide wars, chaos and famine, in which two-thirds of the world’s population dies.
They even have prepared a documentary to be translated into Arabic and distributed throughout the Muslim world announcing this great news: “In this extraordinary time of our history, the world will see the greatest events of all, events that will see the glorification of Islam not only in the Islamic countries, but the world. The reappearance is close.”

… In another recent statement, Gen. Naghdi promised the Basij commanders that soon both Israel and the United States would be destroyed. He continued: “With the destruction of these two evil countries, the world will become free of oppression.”

2. The last time Israel’s existence was threatened, Israeli leadership was very close to using nuclear weapons.
Since the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, the world has come to the nuclear brink only twice. The first, and better known, was the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. The second, and much less discussed, occurred in the early days of the Yom Kippur war, which began 30 years ago today.
…
It was in the early hours of Oct. 9 that senior Israeli military leaders brought up the idea of using Israel’s doomsday weapons. By that time Israel had lost some 50 combat planes and more than 500 tanks – 400 on the Egyptian battlefield alone. According to a new book by the Israeli journalist Ronen Bergman, when the prime minister’s top military aide heard those ideas, he begged the army’s deputy chief of staff, tears in his eyes, “You must save the people of Israel from these madmen.”
Later that morning, at the end of a somber briefing before the war cabinet, Mr. Dayan raised the nuclear option with the prime minister. No detailed record has surfaced as to what exactly Mr. Dayan proposed, but we know he gave an overall assessment that Israel was fast approaching the point of “last resort.” And certainly Mr. Dayan wanted the United States to take notice that things had reached such a point. That he meant using nuclear weapons (albeit in coded language, as at the time nobody dared call them by name) was confirmed in an interview last week by Naftali Lavie, who was Mr. Dayan’s spokesman during the war.

3. Iran is working with Hamas and Hezbollah to coordinate attacks against Israel.
A Lebanese Web site on Sunday quoted Saudi newspaper al-Madina as reporting that Iran nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili met with Hamas and Hizbullah officials, including Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal, in Damascus and asked them to orchestrate “operations” against Israel.
The report said that Jalili also traveled to Beirut and urged Hizbullah and Amal representatives to launch attacks.
Jalili reportedly also asked Hamas and Hizbullah to coordinate their attacks.

4. Hezbollah and Syria to join forces in future clash with Israel.
The Lebanon-based Shi’ite militant group Hezbollah and the Syrian army have initiated a significant military cooperation in joint preparation for the possibility of a future armed conflict with Israel, the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai reported on Monday.

5. Israel faces growing missile threat.
“Advances in rocket technology require new levels of U.S.- Israel cooperation,” Shapiro told an audience at the Brookings Institution in Washington today. “Despite efforts at containment, rockets with better guidance systems, radar range and more destructive power are spreading across the region.”
Shapiro cited developments such as the “tens of thousands” of short- and medium-range rockets amassed on Israel’s northern border by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. These and other threats to Israel’s security are “real, growing and must be addressed,” he said.

6. Syria is rebuilding its chemical weapons capability.
Syria is rebuilding its chemical weapons capability, according to satellite images analysed by Jane’s Intelligence Review.
Syria has maintained stockpiles of chemical weapons, including Sarin gas and blister agents, for decades. But satellite images from two operators, GeoEye and DigitalGlobe, appeared to show significant efforts to update known facilities.
The Janes’s report said that new structures for warehousing and manufacturing complex chemical materials had been built. The buildings had sophisticated filtration systems and cooling towers. Bays for specially adapted Scud missiles had also been built.

7. “The Coming War Would be the Most Difficult Israel Ever Faced.”
Earlier this week, Military Intelligence head Amos Yadlin presented what many called a very pessimistic forecast before the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
According to Yadlin, the regional is moving inexorably towards war, and that the coming war would be the most difficult Israel ever faced.

8. What would Israel do in response to an unconventional attack such as a chemical weapons attack?
No unclassified government planning documents have discussed what Israel would do in response to such an attack, but in the past, Israel has threatened to use nukes against anyone who fired chemical weapons at Israel (which does not have any chemical weapons). But current plans appear to try and keep it non-nuclear for as long as possible. For the Syrians, going to war with Israel is a very risky endeavor. Just using explosive warheads won’t do enough damage to Israel to prevent Israeli troops from advancing on the capital of Syria. Chemical warheads on the missiles might stop, or slow down, the Israelis. Still a very long shot. But the Syrians do have the chemical warheads, although they may lack the nerve to ever use them.
