BY ISRAEL INSIDER—
Daniel Halper, writing in the Weekly Standard, reports that “at 3:22 p.m., I posted this photo of Vice President Joe Biden and Shimon Peres, with an accompanying caption that indicated it had been taken last year in Jerusalem, Israel:
The point of posting the photo was to show that, although the State Department refuses to say that Jerusalem is in I…, even the White House website acknowledges this elementary truth (at least for Western Jerusalem, west of the 1949 armistic lines). But not any more. Within two hours of posting, the White House has apparently gone through its website, cleansing any reference to Jerusalem as being in Israel.
The caption, Halper reports, now reads: “Vice President Joe Biden laughs with Israeli President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem, March 9, 2010.”
This move, if indeed authorized in the highest echelons of the White House — ultimately current resident Barack Hussein Obama II — would indicate that the campaign to dispossess Israel of its capital has become a priority of the current Administration. This augurs badly for hopes that the US will prevent the arising of a Palestinian state or stand with Israel on any matter connected to Jerusalem. It goes without saying that the meeting of Peres and Biden took place in the western part of the city, which apparently Obama believes also is not an area in which Israel is sovereign.
Earlier in the year it was report that a US government official’s official itinerary was listed as the “West Bank, Israel, and Jerusalem” — another indication that under Obama, Jerusalem — any part of Jerusalem — is not considered a part of Israel.
