Think of this: “When you see standing in the Holy Place the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of through the prophet Daniel — let the reader understand.”…” Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.” (Matthew 24:15; II Thessalonians 2:1-4)
Pray on this: Father, we are bold to believe that you will alert your people regarding what you are about to do. We believe this is especially true concerning the events that must transpire before Messiah comes (returns). Grant us grace not only to recognize what you are doing in world affairs, but also to adequately prepare for those coming events. Empowered by your grace we will “always be on the watch, praying fervently that we have the strength to escape all that is about to happen and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36)
