As we celebrate your enduring faithfulness and prayerfulness for our mission to inform, educate and activate support for Israel and the Jewish people. No greater gift has been bestowed upon humanity than the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Our devotion to our Lord and Savior fuels our inspiration to advance our mandate to advocate for Jews and Israel—and that mandate includes exposing and combatting anti-Semitism as well as any movement that seeks to destroy people-including Jewish people and inhabitants of Israel.
Life, childbirth, new beginnings, new hope, gifts—all these concepts are embodied in the Christmas season. Building upon this excitement to honor and celebrate the birth of our Savior, we’d like to highlight the importance of life—preserving life—and helping women in need when they find themselves carrying life while unsure of their circumstances. The Jerusalem Connection is dedicated to the mission of life and partners with a ministry in Israel called Be’ad Chaim (noted on our website as Operation Life).
Why is this relevant to advocating for Jews and Israel? Because preserving life, including the most vulnerable of Jewish life, falls under our banner to provide comfort to Israel. We all know that the cultural atmosphere of Israel includes a value for life-so much so that Israelis are often the first to send relief (personnel and resources) to natural and man-made disasters. Israel is constantly reaching out to hostile neighbors and caring for their civilian populations. Israel’s cutting-edge technology, medical advancements and counter terrorism innovations are all evidence that the nature of Israel is to repair the world and to preserve life.
Yet our hearts are heavy knowing that abortion—terminating a pregnancy before a baby is born—is somewhat normalized in Israeli society. Many women who find themselves with unplanned pregnancies are encouraged by friends, family, and even partners, to terminate the baby out of convenience or fear. The medical community offers available, legal avenues for this. Yet, a mother’s intuition often is spurred that maybe there is another solution. And from testimony of mothers who considered abortion but found counseling and material aid with Operation Life, we know that the Glory of God’s hand works directly through dedicated individuals who seek to preserve life and even someday reverse the normalcy that abortion has in the Israeli society. Sandy Shoshani and her organization reach directly into the community to offer personal and tangible help to mothers in crisis—many of whom are abandoned by their own networks and left feeling hopeless.
Sandy Shoshani, Be’ad Chaim’s founder, the Jerusalem Connection’s partner, and dear friend and mentee of our late founders, Jim and Pat Hutchens, has some words to share with us all to remind us why we so cherish each life—including those in Israel: Please view the video message from Sandy on our blog page or YouTube Channel (look for the Dec 15 Red Alert Report).
Your gift to The Jerusalem Connection labeled or denoted as “Operation Life” will go directly to the ministry of Be’ad Chaim. Go to our donate page on our website to set up a one-time or recurring donation to continue to support this valuable ministry. Activating tangible help to Israelis is one way to support Israel and Jews in partnering with us to glorify the name of Yahweh (Psalm 34:30) and comfort His people (Isaiah 40:1).
Shavua Tov, have a great week and Joyous Christmas!
