During the negotiations at Camp David in 2000, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat famously denied that a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem ever existed, much to President Bill Clinton’s amazement. Temple Denial has since metastasized in Palestinian popular belief. Under Arafat’s leadership, Palestinian historians were forbidden to refer to a historical Jewish Temple. Such historical reconstruction is difficult considering the retaining wall from King Herod’s renovated Second Temple still stands. Facts have never gotten in the way of the Palestinian’s chosen narrative.
