The IDF announced on Sunday that the number of young Bedouin Arab men joining the Israeli military has increased by almost 200 percent over the past year.
The news is encouraging for Israel, which has watched with growing unease the increased radicalization of Bedouin youth, particularly in the Negev where several acts of violence against Israeli Jews have been carried out by Bedouins in recent months.
According to IDF statistics, almost 70% of Bedouin who join the IDF volunteer to serve in combat units, including the elite Desert Reconnaissance Battalion stationed along the border with the Gaza Strip
