“I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I Yahweh am the Holy One in Israel. It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign Yahweh. This is the day I have spoken of.”
Ezekiel 39:7-8 (NIV)
Praise the HOLY NAME of “YAHWEH”.
As a youngster in Jewish schools, I was taught that we do not use the name Yahweh because it is holy, viz. the name itself is holy, and we substitute Adonai when we want to speak of God, the Holy One. This practice continues until now!
It is obvious from the SCRIPTURES that GOD commands us to use and exalt HIS HOLY NAME “YAHWEH”. So we should praise and exalt YAHWEH our GOD continuously.
Hi Jim,
Thank you for these insightful reports that you present week after week – but in particular for this current one. Thank you for sharing these verses. “I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I Yahweh am the Holy One in Israel. It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Lord Yahweh. This is the day I have spoken of.” (Ezekiel 39:7-8)
This stands out to me as a central core statement of Ezekiel 38-39, identifying a particular coming day as pivotal – a day referred to more than once by Ezekiel and by other prophets as well. The day on which the hearts of the people of Israel will be turned back to the Holy One of Israel; He will pour out His Spirit on them; and from that point on their hearts will belong to Him. I don’t claim to know when this will happen – but it feels like it’s probably relatively soon now, and this is becoming the focus of my prayers, to ask the Father to bring about the fulfillment of these promises.
Here are some of the other references that I understand to be referring to this same specially marked day:
Ezekiel 39:29
“I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Lord Yahweh.”
Ezekiel 39:22
“From that day forward the house of Israel will know that I am Yahweh their God”
Zechariah 12:10
“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”
Zechariah 13:1
“On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.”
Isaiah 59:20 – 60:1
“The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares Yahweh. “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says Yahweh. “My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of their descendants from this time on and forever,” says Yahweh. “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of Yahweh rises upon you.
Ah…I finally get it now. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long. Dr. Hutchens has embraced the “Sacred Name Movement”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacred_Name_Movement
I have to agree with Rabbi Bash on this one. Even Yeshua did not speak God’s sacred name, but instead referred to Him as “My Father” or “Our Father”. Should we, who follow the Master, be so bold as to presume to say more than that? “You shall not profane My Holy Name.” (Lev. 22:32)
Jasper; i would like to know HOW CAN WE CALL ON OUR FATHER’S NAME IF WE DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS, because in verse after verse HE tell’s us to call upon HIS Name. And there is many god’s and many lords; And they all have name’s But there is only ONE YA’HOVAH So when we call on Adonai ;doesn’t that just mean lord or god?? and if it does then who are you calling too.?? I Love my FATHER in HEAVEN NAME AND EACH TIME I read the Scriptures I say HIS name.
Jasper, you might read the book of John, because Ya’shua said that He maded His FATHERs name known to his follow’s read chapter 17 and then run referance on the verses.
