By EARL COX, JPOST—
A group of Israeli rabbis has issued an open letter warning that the United States Secretary of State John Kerry’s reckless peace efforts, if they should come to fruition, “will result in divine retribution” against those involved. Kerry’s “incessant efforts to expropriate integral parts of the Holy Land and hand them over to Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian terrorist gang amounts to a declaration of war against the Creator and Ruler of the universe,” according to the rabbis’ statement.
The rabbis further stated that if Kerry continues on the path that he is on risks going down in history like Nebuchadnezzar and the Roman Emperor Titus, who “by heavenly punishment brought eventual destruction upon themselves for implementing destructive policies against Israel and the Jews.”
We, as Christians, believe that our God is ultimately in charge of the history of all the nations of the world. However, He lets the rulers of the nations plot their own courses for the most part, good or bad. God has on numerous times in history decided that the actions and deeds of a nation have gone beyond appropriate bounds, and He has definitely intervened with severe judgment.
It is true that several of these times God’s judgment has responded to nations that have mistreated Israel and/or the Jewish people. Look toward Egypt. They used to be the bright light of the Arab Middle East, but now they are no better than a struggling third world country. What has happened to the Canaanites, the Philistines, and the other tiny nations that used to occupy the land that God gave to the Jewish people? Obviously they have all disappeared.
What happened to that proud and powerful Adolph Hitler? He never made it to a normal death. However, we have often wondered how and why the nation and people of Germany seemed to escape retribution for their cruel annihilation of six million Jews. Perhaps it is still ahead of them, perhaps not. It is in God’s hands and in His plan. What happened to the great British Empire? It has fallen far from its lofty position as the greatest empire on the planet. Certainly God had His hand in all of these judgments.
What about the Arab-Muslim neighbor nations of Israel today, and the so-called Palestinians? How have they managed to lose five wars against an undersized, under equipped, and underdog military of Israel? There is no explanation apart from the mighty hand of God intervening in these battles on behalf of the Jewish people and Israel. The Palestinians are nothing more than a corrupt, terrorist infested, inept excuse for a “nation”.
The rabbis have added to their statements about judgments by calling for repentance and a return to God among the Israeli people. “Only God can guarantee Israel’s security, not the Americans,” said one rabbi. “The nation of Israel cannot rely on anyone but God.”
Of course, this is an opinion definitely different from the viewpoint of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. At the recent security conference in Munich, Kerry actually seemed to threaten Israel in urging a finalization of a peace agreement to establish a Palestine…, or else. Or else what? Retribution against Israel’s security from the United States? Kerry warned Israel that its current prosperity and stable security situation will not last. “Today’s status quo, I promise you 100 per cent, cannot be maintained,” he declared. “It is not sustainable. It is an illusion.”
Kerry has obviously ignored the fact that Israel has now existed as a restored nation for 65 years against seemingly insurmountable odds. Not only has Israel won those five wars against those militant Arab neighbors, who were bent on defeating and destroying the Israeli nation, but the Israeli nation has also developed and prospered beyond anyone’s expectations in such a short time. Do not discount the hand of God in all of this, in the surprising military victories, as well as in the incredible development and prosperity.
There is no doubt that Israel’s security depends on Israel’s relationship with God. America is not the final authority in securing peace for Israel. Peace is not based on any American or UN conditions or Palestinian promises. God Almighty determines Israel’s destiny and His Word says that no weapon formed against Israel will prosper. In fact, God’s Word also says that He will preserve and protect Israel as He destroys her enemies. My prayer as an American Christian is that America will continue to stand strong in support of Israel. If we do not, we will surely suffer the wrath of the Almighty who promises to protect Israel just as a mother hen protects her chicks.
There is one little old problem that seems to keep surfacing in the annals of pro-Israel columns and speeches, and it is this: A long litany of Americas sins against Israel are gone into in detail followed by something like this: Let’s just pray that America stays strong for Israel, or else! Does any one else see a problem here, or is it just persnickety little old me.
Yes! America!
Kathy makes a very interesting and valid point. Praying that “America stays strong for Israel” is an oxymoron; America is no longer “strong for Israel” and hasn’t been since Mr. O. became President. And John Kerry, of course, is either clueless (the best case scenario) or deliberately duplicitous (which, considering his Vietnam era shenanigans, is more likely.) The rabbis have it right. God Himself with defend Israel, even if America will not.
Yes, America is in sin and we are in great need of revival….. 2 Chronicles 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Every word here is true. Barack HUSSEIN Obama (he chose the name – let’s use it, because it IS his name) and his deceived puppets (Kerry/Hilary & Co.) libtard gooberment IS a (righteous) judgment against the U.S.A. I am, personally, saddened and sickened by it; nevertheless, it is coming. Forgive us, Holy G-d, for this thing we have made of your Truth. The G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is still on His Throne; He will interecede – soon and very soon. Even so – come quickly, Lord Y’eshua/Jesus the Christ of Nazareth!
Earl Cox has written “the whole truth and nothing but the truth”. As others have written, Israel can no longer trust the US – it too has become an enemy – the government, that is.
In spite of many so called “Christians” in this country, they too have been led astray. Read your Bible people – it tells us everything we need to know and do. It says nothing about the church replacing Israel because of “their sins” (have you not paid any attention to what’s going on in THIS country and many of it’s churches?”). G_d is merciful BUT He also is just. We can go on just so long and then He will “lay the hammer down”. True believers, STAND WITH ISRAEL AND DON’T BE AFRAID TO LET EVERYONE KNOW WHERE YOU DO STAND. Pray for Israel, Jerusalem AND America. Remember, Daniel and Elijah prayed for G_d to forgive the sins
of their people – IN THE FIRST PERSON, not forgive “their” sins, but forgive “our” sins, including themselves in their tormented hearts. It’s all there, people, ministers, rabbis, Bible teachers, etc. READ IT – IN THE BIBLE – NOT SOME BOOK OF SOMEONE ELSE’S OPINION, BUT READ
THE WORDS OF THE ONE TRUE G-D!!!!!
We have an administration that is no friend of Israel. The Bible says a time will come when Israel will be attacked, and no one will help. But God will, as usual, control the situation and punish where appropriate. I read a book awhile back, don’t remember title or author, but he listed time after time when our leaders went against Israel–and every time shortly after, we had a disaster- God said that whoever blessed Israel he would bless, and whoever cursed them, he would curse. Add to that we have a president who has been quoted as saying that in times of crisis he would stand with the Muslims——-thats a recipe for disaster I think
Earl Cox is exactly right in his well written article. Thank goodness rabbis are realizing that God is their only hope. The problem with Obama, Kerry, and others in this corrupt administration is that they do not believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, nor do they understand or study the Bible. To them, it’s poppycock. Obama and Kerry are trying to impose their will on the state of Israel for political reasons. But it is God’s will that will be done, not man’s. It is abundantly clear to me that none of them have reverential fear of the Lord. Woe be unto them. Woe be unto America. The Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Judgment is coming to America. It’s not a question of if, but a question of when. In a few days (April 15), we will experience a blood moon (a lunar eclipse) on the Jewish holiday of Passover. This is a signal from God in the heaven lees that something big is about to happen. I await this happening with baited breath.
The devil knows his time is short and what’s going to happen.
J. Kerry is just a pawn and is under orders.
Pray for a Great Awakening in the churches to stand with Israel. Some do!
Pharoah’s heart was hardened. We do not have our heads buried in the sand and know the plight of Barack H. Obama. How many times do we have to see it and read about it. He is 100% not for Israel and supplies money’s to the other side. Who is residing in the White House as his team leaders? Read verses 14 & 15 of Matthew Chapter 6. Think maybe the Amen should have been after verse 15. Ultimately God is the Judge and so we pray and further the Kingdom of Love with the, Good News.
Amazing. A bunch of “Christians” giving heed to a group of lost Israeli rabbis.
What next, will you folks start giving heed to the Dalai Lama, or the head of any of the other “religions” in this world which deny Jesus Christ as the Messiah?
Pray. Pray for peace in Jerusalem. Pray that G-d will bind the nefarious corruption perpetrated upon Israel by the ” enlightened ” incompetents for a sham peace accord. For whatever shall be bound on earth shall be bound in heaven. Pray that G-d will loosen the angels retribution, transparency and embarrassment against those who persist to steal the property of G-d. For whatever shall be loosed on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Then pray America that you will be spared the wrath of The Lord. Prayer works.
I have to agree with the rabbi’s that the only deliverer and protector Israel needs is God. He never breaks His promises and it would do these so-called peace makers some good to heed what He says. He kept His word and brought His people home and promised that they would never be removed again. We desperately need to pray for our nation, America, that they who until now were true friends of Israel are turning their backs on Israel with threats and bullying. When all Israels strength seems to be gone then He will take over and bless His people and His land.
The Word says, “I am God and there is no other knowing the end from the beginning” so we truly need to be on the right side here and that is God’s side and realize that Israels enemies are also the ones who hate us and the God given freedoms that we have had which are now in peril too. Pray that God will open the eyes of our leaders and also that He send us that great awakening or we too will end up on the trash heap of history with all God’s enemies from times past. PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF ISRAEL AND AMERICA!
I’m compelled to give a short reply to Juanita Brock’s vitriol against “Christians giving heed to a bunch of lost Israeli rabbis.”
Her comment suggests — to me at least — that she believes that God is finished with the Jewish people, and that anything they have to say (or believe) should be unequivocally discarded post haste. She seems to forget that Yeshua Himself was an Israeli rabbi; as was Sha’ul of Tarsus (St. Paul). Indeed, Paul went to great lengths, in his letter to the Believers in Rome (Romans 9-11), to point out that God is NOT finished with the Jewish people. History is pretty clear that it is primarily the fault of the Church itself — through 2000 years of horrendous persecution of the Jews — that they have “taken a misstep” (Romans 11:11) and have not yet recognized Yeshua as Messiah. Having lived and served in Israel now for many years, I can say without fear of contradiction that vast numbers of Jewish people love the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob far more deeply than many western “Christians” do today. On the one hand, Is Yeshua the Jewish Messiah and Savior of the World? I personally believe He is. On the other hand, “Has God cast away His people? God forbid.” (Romans 11:1)
As a Brit living now in America, as too my younger Irish Brit brother who was an American Marine in the 80’s, is an American citizen here now also. And myself as also a retired RMC, Royal Marine Commando. We both love America and her people! But we both believe America, as too the whole West, and certainly the British, have fallen in/with both modernity and postmodernity. And America, following the Obama regime, does not look good, sadly! And so America is not exempt from God’s disapproval and even judgment, but we should pray that America would continue to stand with Modern Israel, this is not a given without faithfulness and choice! But the question remains, where will America be towards Israel in that great hour of the Day of the Lord? In fact all the Free countries of the West, who were Gentile overall. But the Gentile apostasy appears to be quite on us now! Lord have mercy!
Amen there Jasper! I lived and taught in Israel in the latter 90’s, after being in Gulf War 1, which was very much a providence, both for me, and brought me to Biblical Zionism! I love the Israel and the Jewish people! Oh sweet Holy Land!
Over and over again we read in the scriptures that when Israel’s back is up against it, God has stepped in and annihilated her enemy. I have often said that God does not need America for if America stepped in and rescued israel then the eyes of the world would look to America as being great. Rubbish, I say it again, God does not need America or anyone else. The hand writing is on the wall for America. This has been a wonderful country, but, with the turn of events and our blinded leaders turning their backs on Israel there is no good end for America. But, I would say to every God-fearing Christian in this country to fall on our faces before God repent and plead for mercy lest we see the same annihilation come to this country as was suffered by her other enemies. It is only because of the willful blindness that many suffer due to the ignorance of the scriptures and refusing to believe that God is alive and well and in control. He will show up and show off his glory to all the earth. Praise His Name. May all Israel come to believe in Yeshua (Jesus) who is their messiah. We love Israel and pray for her prosperity and peace every day.
So many do not even read the Bible any more. like the true comment above, they should go read Romans nine and ten and eleven. It is where Paul tells us how G-d is the One who blinded the Jews to Messiah having came, Why, it tells us that HE blinded the Jews so us gentile heathen could have the power to become sons of G-d, and now we see the gentile times is all but over and the Jews by the many are now believers as revival is going on in Israel and the world. and Yet the churches are saying that they replaced Israel…NEVER as G-d made an everlasting Covenant with HIS Chosen People and those who love and support and pray for Israel and the Jews will reign with them forever…Salvation came thru the Jews and they gave us scripture and disciples and all we would need to be saved. From Genesis 12:3 all thru the word G-d tells us who HE will curse. and those who add to or take away from HIS word are cursed…Apostasy is running wild thru out the world.. so we pray without ceasing and stay in the word as it is the only way to see Truth. G-d bless Israel and now we have a new President who loves Israel and is standing with HER. YES and if the war comes as scripture tells us it will , G-d says Israel will win them all and when She seems too weak, HE will roar thru Zion and as Romans 11:26 and many others ALL Israel will be saved. Shalom
