Romans 11
11 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”? 4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
7 What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, 8 as it is written:
“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
eyes that could not see
and ears that could not hear,
to this very day.”
9 And David says:
“May their table become a snare and a trap,
a stumbling block and a retribution for them.
10 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,
and their backs be bent forever.”
Amen. The remnant, made up of both Jews and Gentiles who have placed their faith in Jesus, make up the Church. It also explains why Paul wrote earlier in Romans, “… For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children” – Romans 9:6-7
The words of YAHWEH our GOD are so true; Thank you PASTOR JIM for sharing them with us.
What about the verse that says, “All Israel will be saved”?
All Israel Shall Be Saved Romans 11
25For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery– so that you will not be wise in your own estimation– that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; 26and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB.” 27″THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS.”…
All regenerate Israel will be saved. Only those like Abraham who believed in Christ Jesus for salvation. Those are who “true” Israel make up.
Question: In Zechariah chapters 12-14 it speaks of when Christ returns to fight the nations who have come up against Jerusalem. 12:10 says, “…and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son…” Then chapter 13 opens with, “In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.” Is this saying that there will still be opportunity for repentance and salvation for those who have been unbelievers, even after Christ returns during the great and terrible time that will be upon the earth? Thank you, in advance.
In Romans 11:25-29 Paul is explaining to the gentile church at Rome, and to us as well, that Israel will be saved as a nation. Zechariah 12:10-14 describes the circumstances in which Israel finds itself when that national salvation occurs. These Scriptures should be read in conjunction with Daniel 7:13-14, and Matthew 24:30-31 and Revelation 1:7 to get the full picture of what is being communicated to us. There are probably many other Scriptures that pertain as well. But these scriptures are so clear. There will be a national repentance for corporate Israel. It will not be a gradual event, but will be due to an outpouring of the Holy Spirit at this special God-ordained time. This is so precious to the Lord Jesus – because the nation, His nation, will finally fully grasp who He/Jesus is, and most importantly, what He did for them at the cross. Their repentance will be full of mourning and pain; but they will experience the full joy of salvation. Praise be!!!!
