Romans 9:30-33
What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone. As it is written:
“See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall,
and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame.”
I agree completely with you, Jim. God’s word is eternal.
Amen, the Covenant/covenants are first Israel’s! “Then they gathered around HIM and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6) And note, He did not rebuke the question… “He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.” (Acts 1: 3). See also, Acts 3: 12-21 (noting especially verses 19-21), with 22 to 26! “And you (Israel) are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, “Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.” When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked way.” And of course this offspring was Isaac! (Rom. 9: 7… “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”) And of course too this “promise” is through Christ, Romans 15: 8-9.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” (Rom. 1: 16)
And 1 Cor. 10: 32, “Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks, or the church of God.” And certainly “supersessionism” is a grave stumbling-block in the dispensation/administrations and economy of God! (Eph. 3:2-6)
It is the word of our God that stands forever. Let us cling to that, no matter how many degrees any theologian or teacher may have after his name. Thank-you for being clear on that, Rev. Jim.
Thank you, Dr. Hutchins, I fully agree with you. Love your Truth Report!!
Well, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Jebusites, et al were living in the land of Canaan for centuries until God told the Jews to go in and possess the land. Since God gifted the land to the Jews and since His gifts are irrevocable and since God is eternal so his words too are eternal, the land of Israel will always belong to the Jews; it really doesn’t matter what Dr. Berge says. I also wonder if Dr. Berge will make it to heaven as the least in the Kingdom of God because if He keeps perpetrating the lies he’s spewing, he is actually glorifying Satan. And to do that, one becomes an enemy of God. Remember the 10 virgins; all 10 had the Holy Spirit to begin with but towards the end, 5 lost Him (due to careless living?).
There’s no reason whatsoever to be upset by this false teaching. It’s only another harbinger of the closeness of the return of Christ.
Grant Berry touches on these issues in his book ‘The Ezekiel Generation’. He does it in a remarkable, loving and sensitive way. The book could help a lot of church leaders if they would be open to the Truth, as dr. Hutchingsons refers to constantly.!!
Tragically today many teachers and church leaders are teaching this abomination of supercessionism/replacement theology and using the Bible to push this false teaching and are leading many away from the truth of God’s Word. Unless they change their ways they will be among those who stand before the judgement seat of Yeshua saying ‘look at all the great works I did in Your Name’ and be forced to hear His answer, ‘Depart from me all ye workers of iniquity’ Luke 13:27. We can only pray that they will open their hearts to The Truth of God’s Word and confess their sin and return to Him.
